Weehoo!
I've been wanting to make Grain Free Pumpkin Bars, but balked at the cost of organic almond butter. When I learned (on the same website as the recipe) how easy it was to make your own, I did!

I bought about 2 lbs (appx 5 cups) of raw almonds for just under 10 dollars. Three cups of almonds made 16 oz (2 cups) of almond butter.  I made almond flour with the remaining 2 cups. I lost track of how much flour that actually made, but it was definitely over 2 cups. It was possibly over 3.

I definitely saved some money. And I know exactly what is in it. Win-win.

So, tomorrow I plan to make the pumpkin bars aaand maybe these. My sister and nephew are eager to try so they can be my guinea pigs :)

Yeah, there are lots and lots of things that They charge an arm and a leg for you can make at home for much cheaper, and without odd stabilizers and such.

I'm not sure I'd have the patience to make my own. Plus, I'd have to buy a nice food processor, which I do probably need. But, yeah, that almond flour and butter is expensive so it might be worth it in the long run.

Yeah, there are quite a few recipes that I want to try--so making my own at this point was worth it for me. If my sister didn't happen to just get a new food processor for Christmas I wouldn't have even thought of making my own.
